Lot 1116: Technics SL-PG490 Compact Disc Player and SA-EX510 AV Control Stereo Receiver
A vintage Technics SL-PG490 compact disc player and a Technics SA-EX510 AV control stereo receiver, both featuring black finished metal chassis with matching plastic front fasciae. The compact disc player incorporates Technics’ MASH multi-stage noise shaping technology and features a central disc drawer above a digital fluorescent display, with controls for random playback, peak search, and auto cue alongside a dedicated headphone jack with independent level control. An adhesive label to the rear reads Technics Model SL-PG490 COMPACT DISC PLAYER Made in Germany. The accompanying SA-EX510 receiver is an AV control unit equipped with RDS functionality, featuring a large rotary volume control and dedicated knobs for bass, treble, and balance. The front panel includes source selectors for phono, tuner, CD, TV/DVD, VCR, and tape monitor. A rear manufacturer’s label identifies the unit as Technics MODEL NO. SA-EX510 Made in Malaysia with serial number SU8KA15352. The units are connected by RCA interconnect cables and are fitted with a standard UK three-pin power plug.
Condition report:
Both components are in a heavily dusty condition and show visible surface scuffing and light scratching across the top metal covers (photos 1 and 2). The units are currently untested for electrical working order and are sold as seen. The headphone level knob on the CD player is intact but shows minor wear (photo 3).
