Lot 1144: A Mid-Century Polished Metal Full-Length Mirror
A Mid-Century polished metal full-length mirror of rectangular form, featuring a slim, flat-profile frame likely constructed from chrome-plated steel with visible corner joins. The mirror plate is in a heavily distressed state, exhibiting significant silvering degradation, foxing, and surface contamination throughout. A vertical strip of white adhesive tape bearing the word ‘FRAGILE’ printed in red capital letters is adhered to the centre of the mirror glass. A small white rectangular sticker on the right-hand frame edge bears the printed characters ‘3437’ and ‘933’. A second small white sticker is present on the opposite frame edge, though the characters are not legible.
Large-scale furniture items; exact dimensions are not provided.
Condition report:
The polished metal frame shows signs of age, including surface dirt, light pitting, and minor scuffing, particularly towards the bottom corners (main photo). The mirror plate is heavily compromised with significant silvering degradation and foxing throughout (main photo). There is a strip of \'FRAGILE\' packing tape adhered to the centre of the glass, and the surface shows various black marks, grime, and potential permanent staining.
