Lot 1168: A Trio of Vintage Framed Artworks Including A Richard Tuff Landscape (Signed)
A trio of vintage framed artworks and frames including a Richard Tuff landscape, comprising an impressionistic watercolour on paper, a still life print, and an empty ornate frame. The principal piece is an impressionistic landscape painting, likely executed in watercolour or gouache, depicting a cluster of white-walled buildings set against a backdrop of hills in shades of deep blue, purple, and indigo. The work is set behind glass within a wide cream mounting mat and a light-toned natural wood frame. A signature reading Richard Tuff is clearly visible in the upper right quadrant of the composition. The second item is a vintage still life print depicting a white ceramic pitcher beside a bowl of pears on a dark surface, presented in a gold-toned frame with a wide mat. The final piece is a large, ornate vintage picture frame featuring a foliate moulded border in a gilt finish, currently housing an empty cream mat.
Condition report:
Visible mat staining and foxing are present on the Richard Tuff landscape, most notably along the bottom edge of the cream mount (photo 1). The still life print exhibits several small dark spots and surface marks to the background area, and the wide mat shows significant age-related discolouration (photo 1, 3). The ornate gilt-finished frame shows minor surface wear and small losses to the moulded edges but remains structurally sound (photo 1). All pieces are glazed except for the empty ornate frame.
