Lot 411: Vintage Sanyo 222 Series Three Component Hi-Fi System
A vintage Sanyo 222 series three-component hi-fi system, comprising an integrated amplifier, a stereo cassette deck, and a three-band tuner. The components are housed in dark metallic-grey metal casings with a distinctive black and brown grid-patterned control aesthetic typical of Japanese audio equipment from the early 1980s. The Stereo Integrated Amplifier model JA 222 features rotary knobs for bass, treble, and function, with push-button controls for loudness and monitoring. The central Stereo Cassette Deck model RD 222 includes a mechanical tape counter, LED level meters, and soft-touch operation buttons, supporting metal tape and Dolby noise reduction. The base unit is a JT 222L 3-band tuner featuring an analogue slide-rule tuning dial for LW, MW, and FM stereo reception. Each component is printed with a copper-tone maker’s mark reading SANYO. The individual model designations JA 222, RD 222, and JT 222L are clearly legible on the front panels. The units bear secondary markings including a white adhesive lot sticker reading 411 from HCP Auctions South West and a handwritten 12 on a piece of masking tape.
