Lot 513: A Collection of Vintage English Decorative Earthenware Vases and Canisters
A collection of vintage decorative earthenware vases and canisters, comprising five ornamental handled vases and a two-piece lidded storage set. The vases feature various transfer-printed motifs including classical figures in garden settings, a pastoral cottage scene with a horse-drawn carriage, and large red rose floral displays. Construction varies, with several pieces featuring ornate scrolled handles and flared rims embellished with gilt highlights. One vase with a hexagonal base features incised and embossed marks reading 3 8 above the word GARDINERS and ENGLAND, with MADE IN printed in an inverted orientation. The storage jars, labelled TEA and SUGAR in orange lettering, are decorated with transfer-printed wheat stalks and purple flowers. These canisters bear a circular printed backstamp in blue and red featuring a figure holding a jug against a Union Jack flag, with text reading PREMIER PRODUCTS FROM HENRY’S and the telephone number 01782 818981.
