Lot 566: An Assortment of Antique and Vintage Staffordshire Earthenware Tablewares
An assortment of antique and vintage Staffordshire earthenware tablewares, comprising various serving pieces and dinner plates. The collection includes a round serving bowl by S. Hancock and Sons in the Coronaware pattern, featuring a scalloped rim and a transfer-printed border of stylized flowers in red, blue, and yellow set against black scrollwork. A deep round bowl with a scalloped edge is decorated with delicate sprays of garden flowers and bears a green printed mark beneath a crown reading ALFRED MEAKIN ENGLAND on the underside (photo 3). Also included is a large oval serving platter from the Alfred Meakin Sunshine range, featuring a wide maroon border embellished with elaborate transfer-printed gilded foliate scrolls around a cream central well. The group is completed by a set of three Myott Staffordshire dinner plates in the Olde Chelsea pattern, each designed with a molded swirled rim and transfer-printed with a large orange daisy accompanied by autumn-toned foliage. Each item bears a handwritten adhesive inventory label, such as a white label on the Myott plates reading 2010 3x Vintage Myott Staffordshire Olde Chelsea 10 inch Dinner plates. Res 5-00 (photo 5).
