Lot 616: A Vintage Faux Pearl Necklace and Agate Brooch
A vintage faux pearl necklace and agate brooch, the necklace comprising three strands of off-white simulated pearls in graduated and uniform sizes. One strand is accented with small gold-toned metal spacer beads, and the necklace is finished with a silver-toned metal filigree box clasp. The oval brooch features a large cabochon of mottled reddish-brown and orange agate, bezel-set within a dark-toned metal frame with a serrated edge. A fragment of an associated box bears printed text for an importer and UK representative reading ‘Imported by ESBE International SA – Avenue Moliere 329 – 1180 Brussels – BE’ and ‘Represented in UK by QUALIUK Ltd Carlyle House – Lower Ground Floor London SW1V 1EJ’. No maker’s marks or metal hallmarks are visible on either piece of jewellery.
Condition report:
The simulated pearls exhibit visible surface wear and minor losses to the nacre coating (photo 1). The interior cream fabric lining of the rectangular necklace box shows significant brown staining and discolouration (photo 2). The agate brooch and its presentation box appear in good vintage condition with only light surface wear consistent with age.
