Lot 618: A Trio of Antique Parian Ware Figurines and a Lidded Box
A trio of antique parian ware figurines and a lidded box, including two unglazed white bisque statuettes and a relief-decorated trinket pot. The first figure depicts a neoclassical female in a draped chiton, standing with one arm raised to her head on a fluted circular base. The second figure represents a young page in late 18th-century attire carrying a basket on his head, standing on a simple circular base with black painted shoes. The circular trinket box features a domed lid with an applied floral finial, decorated throughout the exterior with relief-moulded foliate swags and scrollwork, while the interior is finished with a clear glaze. The base of the box bears an impressed, irregular shield-shaped mark containing several small raised characters which are not legible (photo 2). A white adhesive label reading 46671 is attached to the lid, and a larger lot tag for lot 618 is present nearby.
Condition report:
The classical female figurine displays significant damage to the left arm, which has a jagged break at the wrist where the hand or a held object is missing (photo 1). There is ingrained surface dirt and minor scuffing to the base of this figure. The boy figurine appears structurally intact with minor surface marks and wear to the black paint on the shoes. The lidded box is in generally good condition with no visible chips or cracks, showing only some surface grime to the unglazed underside and an adhesive lot label on the lid (photo 1).
