Lot 622: A Vintage Dazlite British-Made Crinkle-Finish Metal Dual-Lens Lantern
A vintage Dazlite British-made crinkle-finish metal dual-lens lantern, featuring a grey textured cylindrical body with polished metal accents. The lantern is designed for portable emergency or signal use, equipped with a large circular front-facing spotlight and a secondary top-mounted signal light housed under a fluted red dome lens. A wire bail handle is attached to the upper section for carrying or hanging. Operation is managed via a side-mounted metal toggle switch set against a metal indicator plate with settings for OFF, TOP, FRONT, and TOP & FRONT. The polished circular base is embossed with the brand name DAZLITE in capital letters, situated above a partially obscured impressed mark which reads MADE IN ENGLAND. The front bezel houses a clear glass lens over an internal reflector.
Condition report:
The lantern displays signs of age and significant use, with surface rust and pitting evident on the polished metal base (photo 2), the wire bail handle, and the front and rear bezels (photo 1). The grey crinkle-finish paintwork shows scattered wear, surface oxidation, and minor scuffing (photo 3). The internal reflector for the front spotlight shows areas of oxidation and spotting (photo 1). Both the clear front glass and the red fluted dome lens appear to be intact without significant cracks. The mechanical toggle switch and handle assembly are complete and functional, though the internal electrical components and working order remain untested.
