Lot 716: A Vintage Authentic Models Wood and Metal Transparent Biplane
A vintage Authentic Models wood and metal transparent biplane. The model features an open-framework fuselage and wing structure, predominantly constructed from balsa and plywood. The wings and rear fuselage are covered in a translucent off-white fabric, allowing the internal ribs and spars to remain visible. The forward fuselage and engine cowling are made from hand-formed and riveted aluminium plating, featuring realistic cooling louvers and access panels. It is fitted with a two-blade propeller crafted from laminated wood. Further details include twin top-mounted machine guns, a representational engine block, and a landing gear assembly with wooden struts and metal-rimmed wheels. A white adhesive label is present on the metal cowling reading ‘HCP Auctions South West Lot 716 www.hcpauctions.net’. No manufacturer’s branding is visible on the airframe.

Condition report:
The model is in good condition overall. The fabric covering remains intact but exhibits age-related yellowing and a light accumulation of surface dust (photo 2). A length of natural twine is tied around the forward fuselage and cowling (photo 3). The aluminium cowling shows a natural aged patina and some light surface marks (photo 3). Several rigging wires appear slack and require re-tensioning (photo 1).
