Lot 729: A Pair of Vintage Mulberry Leather Zip Pouches
A pair of vintage Mulberry leather zip pouches, one crafted in a vibrant blue pebbled grain leather and the other in a dark chocolate brown shrunken grain leather. Both pouches feature a slim, curved rectangular profile with a single gold-tone zip-top closure. The front of each item is inset with a prominent circular gold-tone metal plaque, which is embossed with a central tree logo and reads MULBERRY across the top and EST. 1971 around the bottom edge. The brass-finish zipper pulls are also embossed with the signature tree device. The interior of the brown pouch is lined in a dark fabric. The lot is accompanied by a burgundy-coloured protective textile bag featuring a printed Mulberry tree logo.
Condition report:
Both pouches exhibit signs of regular use and age. The circular gold-tone plaques on both items show significant surface scratching and some minor tarnishing to the plating, particularly visible on the brown pouch (photo 3). The leather on both pouches has softened with use, with the blue pouch showing some light darkening to the edges and corners (photo 2). The zippers are functional, although the pulls show surface wear and minor oxidation. No dimensions are provided as no scale is present in the images.
