Lot 736: A Vintage Special Collector's Edition Tobogganing Teddy Bear
A vintage Special Collector’s Edition tobogganing teddy bear, depicted in a seated position upon a traditional wooden sled. The bear is constructed from honey-coloured shaggy synthetic plush with black button eyes and a dark brown stitched nose. It is dressed in a festive red, dark green, and cream striped knitted woollen hat with a pom-pom and a matching scarf. The bear is mounted on a stained wooden sled featuring three cross-slats and curved runners, holding a twisted green and cream cord handle. An original printed paper hang tag is attached to the left ear, featuring a red and blue banner reading Special Collector’s Edition and the title Tobogganing Teddy. The reverse of the tag provides a short descriptive narrative about the item. A small white rectangular adhesive label is present on the front right runner of the sled, though the characters are not legible.
Condition report:
The item appears in good overall condition suitable for display. The synthetic plush fur remains clean and retains its original shaggy texture as intended by the design. The wooden sled is structurally sound with no visible cracks or breaks to the slats or runners. The original paper hang tag remains attached but shows minor creasing at the edges (photo 2).
