Lot 740: A Collection of Vintage Decorative Glassware and Japanese Porcelain Jars
A collection of vintage decorative glassware and Japanese porcelain jars, featuring a clear pressed glass decanter with a matching stopper and fluted neck above a diamond-patterned body. The group includes a small clear glass footed vase with a frilled scalloped rim and geometric facet designs, and a heart-shaped glass trinket dish with internalised purple blossoms and green foliage. Accompanying these are two porcelain jars of bulbous form, decorated in the Satsuma fashion with hand-painted scenes of figures and landscapes. The decoration on the jars incorporates raised moriage enamel techniques and gilt line work. The figures are depicted in traditional Japanese attire against a neutral background. There are no visible maker’s marks, signatures, or labels on any of the objects. The glass pieces exhibit characteristics of mass-produced pressed glass construction.
Condition report:
The collection is in good overall condition. There are no significant chips, cracks, or repairs visible to the glassware or the porcelain jars. The gilding and moriage enamel on the Japanese jars remain largely intact with only minor surface wear consistent with age. The decanter stopper fits securely and appears free from damage.
