Lot 994: A Vintage Moulded Resin Two-Piece Sunken Submarine Aquarium Ornament
A vintage moulded resin two-piece sunken submarine aquarium ornament, designed as a derelict and biofouled wreck. The piece is constructed from cast resin, divided into two separate sections comprising a bow and a stern. The exterior hull features moulded panels, rivets, portholes, and a conning tower, finished with a heavily weathered aesthetic in mottled shades of green, blue, and brown to simulate rust and algae accumulation. The base of each section is textured to resemble a rocky seabed or coral reef, highlighted with pink and grey tones. The design incorporates multiple irregular holes and apertures serving as swim-through points for fish. No other manufacturer marks or stamps are visible on the exterior surfaces.
Condition report:
The ornament is in good used condition. The prominent cracks, missing hull sections, and distressed paintwork are intentional design features representing a sunken wreck (photos 1, 2, and 3).
