A vintage mahogany fire screen with a needlepoint garden scene, featuring a rectangular mahogany frame with a deep, warm finish. The frame is surmounted by a shaped and pierced pediment and stands on two pairs of splayed bracket feet for stability. The central panel is hand-worked in needlepoint, depicting a cottage garden filled with pink hollyhocks, blue lupins, and white daisies in a naturalistic landscape. This textile panel is protected by a pane of glass and secured within the mahogany borders. The construction utilises standard joinery of the early 20th century, with the wood exhibiting a well-defined grain throughout. No maker’s marks or labels are visible on the frame or the reverse.
