Lot 1020: An Edwardian Quartersawn Oak Screen with Chinoiserie Fabric Panel
A single-panelled screen constructed from quartersawn oak, dating to the Edwardian period. The frame displays prominent medullary rays and houses a central fabric panel with a black ground. The fabric is decorated with a Chinoiserie-style design of long-tailed pheasants, peonies, and cherry blossoms in muted cream and gold tones. The piece is fitted with a decorative cast-metal latch to the top edge and a brass escutcheon to the left side. The frame stands on a low base with two small protruding feet.
