Lot 304: A Collection of Vintage European Travel Maps, Guidebooks, and Souvenir Colour Slides including Ordnance Survey and European Volumes
An assortment of mid-to-late 20th-century travel ephemera and cartographic materials. The collection includes several British Ordnance Survey maps from various series: a Routemaster map of South West and South England at a scale of 1 inch to 4 miles, a 1:50 000 Series map for Land’s End and The Lizard (Sheet 203), and an Outdoor Leisure map No. 20 for South Devon. Souvenir publications include a pictorial hardcover volume titled VENICE, a red-bound souvenir book with an orange title strip reading ROMA, and a travel guide for Capri. A bilingual travel map published by Freytag and Berndt is titled MERAN UND UMGEBUNG MERANO E DINTORNI at a scale of 1:30,000. Further maps are present from Mairs Geographischer Verlag – Stuttgart. The lot also contains a blue cardboard boxed set of 35mm transparencies with a white printed label reading VATICANO 1 – 60 COLOR SLIDES. The materials consist of printed paper maps with card covers, softcover booklets, and one hardcover book with pictorial boards. The collection is housed in a grey plastic crate.
