Lot 364: Two Metal and Glass Decorative Lanterns
Two metal and glass decorative lanterns in contrasting styles. The first is a smaller lantern constructed with a black-finished metal frame featuring lead-soldered joints and clear glass panels, tapering to a pyramidal top with a circular suspension loop. The second lantern is of larger proportions with a white-painted finish, featuring arched glass panels and a domed top. This lantern is decorated with trailing artificial green ivy and contains an internal cream-coloured battery-operated LED pillar candle. A rectangular white paper label adhered to the black lantern reads 2 Decorative Lanterns – 1 Lead, 1 Battery Candle 1893, while a small circular adhesive label on the white lantern glass bears the number 1893.
