Lot 415: An Assortment of Decorative Ceramics and Glassware including a Novelty Teapot
An assortment of domestic ceramics and glassware of various forms. The collection includes a red-glazed ceramic novelty teapot modelled as a British telephone kiosk, featuring the word TELEPHONE printed in black on a cream ground on the front. A white ceramic storage jar features a transfer-printed design in maroon and red with the legible words STILTON and SOMERSET. The glassware includes a suite of clear glass comprising a large bowl and multiple matching small cups, each decorated with a broad maroon-coloured band and gilded floral motifs. A small cut-glass bowl contains three pale blue ceramic condiment shakers, one of which has a pattern of holes to the top. The ceramic items further include a white jug with a transfer-printed foliate pattern in dark grey and a white metal-mounted rim, a light blue oval dish with three circular indentations, a large oval bowl with a scalloped edge decorated with transfer-printed autumnal leaves, and a large oval platter with a botanical design of seed pods. Additional glassware consists of a clear glass pitcher with white printed floral sprays and a slender pale green glass vase. A printed circular mark is visible on the Somerset jar, containing the words STILTON and SOMERSET, but no specific manufacturer name is legible. No other maker names are readable on the objects.
