Lot 442: A Vintage Singer Model 99K Portable Electric Sewing Machine
A vintage Singer Model 99K portable electric sewing machine, featuring a cast metal head finished in black gloss enamel with ornate gold-tone decals. The machine is mounted on a wooden base and is housed within its original wooden carrying case, which is finished in a brown reptile-textured Rexine covering with chrome-plated latches and a black composite handle. The arm of the machine is decorated with gold-tone transfers reading SINGER and THE SINGER MANUFACTURING CO. A circular brass badge is fixed to the pillar, marked THE SINGER MANFG. CO. and TRADE MARK around a central shuttle and needles logo. A small metal plate located near the stitch regulator is marked 99K, and a further metal plate on the machine bed is stamped with the serial number EK935710. This serial number prefix indicates production at the Kilbowie factory in Clydebank, Scotland, circa 1955.
