Lot 476: A Group of Hand-Carved Wood Animal Figurines
A group of hand-carved wood animal figurines in various forms and finishes. The collection includes a large standing bear with deeply gouged vertical texturing to represent fur and dark-stained facial features. A reclining cat figure is finished in a light natural wood grain with black-painted stripes and facial details. The assortment includes two owls: one decorated with polychrome paint in shades of orange, white, and green, and a second owl in dark-stained wood with large incised eyes. Several smaller cat and kitten figures are present in varying poses, including one with blue-painted eyes and another with a reddish-toned finish. The pieces exhibit visible hand-carving marks and varying wood tones throughout. No maker’s names, signatures, or factory marks are visible on the exterior surfaces of the figurines.
