Lot 522: An Antique Heavy Gauge Copper Sauté Pan
An antique heavy gauge copper sauté pan of professional proportions. The circular body is constructed from thick gauge copper, featuring a tinned interior and a slightly flared rim. It is fitted with a substantial, hand-wrought iron handle of flat, tapering form, which is secured to the wall of the pan by three large copper rivets. The handle terminates in a decorative split-tail or forked attachment at the rim, characteristic of 19th-century metalwork. The metal surface exhibits a dark, uncleaned aged patina throughout. No maker’s marks or stamps are legible on the handle, rim, or base.
