Lot 579: A Group of Portmeirion Botanic Garden Earthenware and Two Porcelain Teacups
A collection of decorative ceramics featuring several pieces from the Portmeirion Botanic Garden range alongside two porcelain teacups. The Portmeirion group includes matching earthenware cachepots of tapered cylindrical form with flared rims, and mantel clocks of arched form. The cachepots are decorated with transfer-printed illustrations of daisies, captioned with the printed text BELLIS PERENNIS and Daisy, accompanied by various insects. A characteristic green laurel leaf border is printed around the upper rims. One mantel clock features a white dial with Roman numerals and is printed with the words PORTMEIRION and QUARTZ. The base of the clock is fitted with a green felt pad bearing a gold foil mark in the shape of an oval laurel wreath, containing the printed text PORTMEIRION and Made in England. The two porcelain teacups are decorated with a cobalt blue lattice pattern, featuring gilded starburst motifs at the intersections and a gilded rim. No maker marks are visible on the teacups.
