Lot 619: A Collection of Nine Decorative Cast Brass Figurines and Miscellaneous Metalware
A group lot of nine decorative items cast in brass, primarily featuring animal motifs. The collection includes a matching pair of openwork plaques depicting a rural scene of a ploughman with a team of two horses. The set features three owl figurines: one larger figure perched upon a branch, a smaller standing owl with red glass or stone inset eyes, and a miniature owl form. Also included is a small figurine of a seated hare. The lot further comprises a rectangular matchbox sleeve with a sliding interior, a small hinged trinket box with a textured finish and a small animal surmount on the lid, and a rectangular nameplate. This nameplate features the raised characters J, M, &, C, O, reading J.M & Co within a decorative border. The items are produced through casting with various levels of surface finishing and polishing.
