Lot 661: A Trio of English Earthenware Teapots by Royal Doulton, Keeling and Co, and Price and Kensington
An English earthenware collection comprising three distinct teapots. The first is a globular Royal Doulton teapot from the Royal English Old Scenes series. The cream-coloured body is decorated with a transfer-printed and hand-tinted scene titled The Gleaners, depicting two figures in a rural field. The base features a blue circular transfer mark reading ROYAL ENGLISH OLD SCENES around the outer circle, with THE GLEANERS inside a central rectangle and DOULTON below. It also bears an incised number 82 and a hand-painted red letter A. The second is a globular Keeling and Co teapot in the Bristol pattern, produced under the Losol Ware brand. The white earthenware body is decorated with polychrome transfer-printed floral sprigs and a geometric repeating border to the rim and lid, featuring a dark-glazed handle and spout. The base bears a blue transfer mark reading Losol BRISTO. above a crown emblem, with KEELING & CO LTD BURSLEM ENGLAND below. Additional marks include a small blue flower symbol, an incised SO, and a hand-painted red number 3127/B. The third is a figural Toby style earthenware teapot by Price and Kensington. The piece is moulded in the form of a man’s face and finished in a uniform deep brown Rockingham-style glaze. It is fitted with silver-plated metal mounts to the rim, spout tip, handle bands, and base. The underside features the incised letters P & K at the top and the words GENUINE ENGLISH at the lower edge. A black printed mark D1 followed by three small dots is also visible.
