Lot 770: A George III Style Mahogany Sideboard with Neoclassical Carved Ornamentation
A mahogany sideboard in the George III style, featuring a rectangular top with a slightly projecting moulded edge. The frieze contains three drawers, with the central drawer displaying a carved neoclassical ram’s head mask flanked by floral swags. A continuous carved Vitruvian scroll border runs below the drawer line. The lower section consists of three cupboard doors; the central door features a large rectangular beaded panel, and the outer doors have beaded borders and inset keyholes. The piece is supported by four square-tapered and fluted legs terminating in block feet. The hardware consists of brass circular backplates with ring-pull handles. No maker’s marks, labels, or stamps are visible on the exterior or accessible surfaces of the piece.
