Lot 811: A Mid-20th Century Carved Hardwood Fall-Front Bureau and Matching Chair
A mid-20th century carved hardwood fall-front bureau and matching chair. The bureau is of rectangular form, constructed from a stained hardwood with a prominent grain. The hinged fall-front top opens to reveal an interior fitted with a central small drawer featuring two circular recessed finger pulls, flanked by six vertical stationary pigeonholes. The exterior is embellished with a hand-carved foliate and leaf-motif border along the upper edge. Beneath the writing slope are two full-width drawers, each fitted with integrated shell-motif recessed pulls. The matching wooden chair features cabriole legs. No maker’s marks or labels are visible on either piece.
