Lot 834: A George III style mahogany shield back carver armchair
A mahogany armchair constructed in the Hepplewhite style. The chair features a shield-shaped back enclosing a central pierced splat, which is carved with a Prince of Wales feathers motif above a scrolling base. It has open scrolling arms with curved supports leading to a rectangular seat rail. The drop-in seat is upholstered in a textured light brown fabric. The chair stands on square tapered front legs and slightly splayed rear legs, all joined by a plain H-shaped stretcher. No maker marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the timber frame or the underside of the seat.
