Lot 845: Anglo-Indian Hand-Carved Hardwood Octagonal Folding Side Table
An octagonal folding side table of Anglo-Indian style, crafted from a dark hardwood. The octagonal top features a central circular medallion with an inlay of bone or mother-of-pearl depicting a stylised floral sprig and scrolling leaves. This central motif is surrounded by two concentric bands of deeply carved floral and foliate relief work. The outer edge of the tabletop consists of a broad, pierced border carved with large, stylised acanthus-like leaves. The tabletop rests upon a separate, three-panel folding base. Each panel is intricately carved with matching pierced foliate designs and joined by two small metal hinges per fold, allowing the base to be collapsed for storage. No maker’s marks, signatures, or factory stamps are visible on the piece.
