Lot 854: A set of four wheelback Windsor-style dining chairs
A set of four dark-stained solid wood dining chairs in the traditional English wheelback Windsor style. Each chair is constructed with a hooped back containing a central decorative splat with a pierced wheel motif, flanked by six vertical spindles on either side. The chairs feature shaped solid wood saddle seats and are supported by four turned legs joined by an H-stretcher. The joinery utilizes traditional spindle-back techniques where the back components and legs are mortised directly into the solid seat. Three chairs are accompanied by removable, black textured fabric tie-on cushions. No maker’s marks, labels, or stamps are visible on the surfaces shown in the photographs.
