Lot 856: Late 19th or Early 20th Century Decorative Brass Pierced Skimmer
A decorative brass skimmer or pierced strainer of traditional form. The item features a circular bowl pierced with a regular pattern of small holes, attached to the handle by two rivets. The bowl is formed from brass sheet with a slightly irregular and raised rim. The handle is constructed with elaborate openwork featuring a series of circular motifs and a stylised shape resembling an ankh. The terminal of the handle includes a small integrated circular suspension loop. No maker’s marks, hallmarks, or signatures are visible on the metal surface.
