Lot 883: English School, 20th Century, Village Scene with Suffolk Pink Building
An oil painting on board depicting a traditional English village architectural study. The central focus is a two-storey building finished in Suffolk pink render with white-painted sash windows and a dark timber door. Potted flowering plants flank the entrance. To the right, a narrow lane is bordered by a white-walled gable end and a brick wall. The background features mature trees in green and autumnal reddish-brown hues under a pale blue sky. The artist has employed thick, textured brushwork to define the foliage and the rendered surfaces of the buildings. No signature or inscription is visible to the front of the work. The painting is housed in a multi-part frame consisting of a gilt inner slip, a wide cream-coloured fabric-textured mount, and a dark stained wooden outer moulding.
