Lot 904: Arts and Crafts Oak Reclining Armchair
An Arts and Crafts period reclining armchair, commonly referred to as a Morris chair, constructed from dark-stained oak. The piece features a high, slatted backrest consisting of five vertical laths held within a rectangular frame. The back is adjustable, supported by a wooden rod that rests in notches located at the rear of the wide, flat armrests. The armrests are designed with slightly curved ends. The seat contains a rectangular, padded cushion upholstered in a green and cream floral damask fabric. The corresponding back cushion is missing, leaving the wooden slats exposed. No maker’s marks, stamps, or labels are visible on the item.
