Two square-mouth garden spades of forged steel construction with wooden shafts. The first tool features a green-painted socket and a green plastic D-grip handle. A rectangular white adhesive label is present on the wooden shaft; it is largely worn, with only the letters U, N, and T appearing legible at the end of a word (photo 1). The second tool is fitted with a traditional Y-D handle constructed of split wood and metal (photo 1). Both tools utilise riveted socket construction to secure the wooden shafts to the steel blades. The blades exhibit a square-point transfer profile, characteristic of tools used for moving loose materials or edging (photo 2 and 3).
