A twelve foot section of heavy duty three strand natural fibre rope, likely manila or hemp, rigged with a substantial black pigmented cast metal or hard rubber fitting. The rope is of a thick gauge, approximately 32 mm in diameter, and features a professionally spliced eye loop at one terminal end. The central portion is coiled around a curved, tapered black component which terminates in eyelets for attachment. A piece of white adhesive tape is wrapped around one section of the rope, bearing the handwritten numeral 5 in black ink. The construction and gauge suggest a maritime, industrial, or equestrian utility, such as a toggle rope or heavy duty bumper.

Condition report:

The rope shows significant signs of industrial or maritime use, including surface soiling and extensive fraying to the fibres throughout (photo 1). There are distinct areas of orange-coloured staining to the strands (photo 2). The black specialized fitting exhibits surface abrasions and ingrained dust consistent with age and outdoor application (photo 3).
