Lot 599: A Pair of Metal Pheasant Table Ornaments

This auction ended on 17 October 2026.

Start price: £5

Estimated price: £5 - £10

Buyer's Premium: 20%

Sold for: £10

A pair of decorative table ornaments modelled as pheasants, each cast in a different naturalistic pose. One bird is depicted with an alert, raised head, while the other is shown in a slightly bowed position. The figures are constructed with significant attention to detail, featuring intricate chasing and engraving to simulate the texture of plumage across the wings and bodies, extending to long, tapering tail feathers. The metal surface exhibits a dark, aged patina with areas of surface tarnish and oxidation throughout. The birds are supported by applied cast feet with spreading toes. While no hallmarks or maker’s marks are visible in the provided images, the construction and surface wear are consistent with silver-plated white metal.
