Lot 70: A Collection of Maritime Rope and Wooden Block and Tackle

A collection of maritime and industrial equipment, including multiple lengths of rope and wooden pulley blocks. The assortment features a substantial length of heavy, light-tan braided rope secured with a white adhesive label reading APPROX 150 ft in handwritten purple ink. Also included is a coiled length of blue three-strand synthetic rope, featuring a white adhesive label reading APPROX 36 ft with a small 0 character in the upper right corner. The lot further contains a block and tackle assembly comprising approximately 20 feet of tan rope integrated with two wooden pulley blocks. One block is a single-sheave design and the other is a double-sheave design, both featuring wooden shells and internal sheaves. The double-sheave block is fitted with a galvanised metal shackle and hook. This assembly bears a white adhesive label reading APPROX 20 FT WITH Pulleys blocks. A further length of darker brown braided rope is present at the base of the grouping.

Condition report:
The collection exhibits signs of industrial and maritime use. The wooden pulley blocks show surface wear, minor scuffing, and typical oxidation to the galvanised metal hook and shackle (photo 3). The ropes show surface soiling and fraying at the cut ends, most notably on the block and tackle assembly (photo 3) and the blue synthetic rope (photo 4). The tan braided rope shows surface fuzzing throughout the fibers (photo 2). Adhesive labels show creasing and partial peeling.
