Lot 72: An Assortment of Marine Fenders and a Large Buoy
Not sold
An assortment of marine fenders and a large buoy, constructed from heavy-duty moulded plastic and vinyl. The collection features three cylindrical boat fenders, including one in a dark blue finish and two in weathered white, alongside a substantial teardrop-shaped buoy in light grey. The fenders are designed with integrated eyelets at the ends for line attachment, with one white fender retaining a length of green and white braided synthetic rope. The large grey buoy features a reinforced black-ringed eyelet through which a thick, weathered fiber rope is threaded. These utilitarian items exhibit surface textures and patinas characteristic of prolonged maritime use, including scuffing and environmental staining. The blue fender shows a smoother, less weathered surface compared to the white and grey components.
Condition report:
The items show significant signs of use and weathering consistent with their function. The white cylindrical fenders and the grey teardrop buoy exhibit heavy surface scuffing, scratches, and green algal growth (photo 1). The blue fender appears in better cosmetic condition but shows minor surface abrasions. The fiber rope attached to the grey buoy is frayed and weathered (photo 2). One white fender has a knotted rope segment showing signs of environmental exposure. Air retention and structural integrity have not been tested.
