A folk art doll and a ceramic wash set. The doll depicts an elderly female market vendor with a moulded and painted face featuring grey hair and red lips. She is dressed in a lace bonnet, a green floral patterned shawl, a brown fabric bodice, and a green floral skirt partially covered by a blue apron. The figure holds a set of metal hand scales with a single weighted pan and is mounted on a terracotta or clay base. The doll is accompanied by a partial ceramic wash set comprising a jug, a basin, and a small circular soap dish. The jug is decorated with a transfer-print equestrian scene of two figures in red coats riding horses against a blue-to-white gradient background. The wash basin features a floral transfer-print border of purple flowers on a cream-coloured interior. There are no maker’s marks or factory signatures visible on any of the components. The jug bears a small white rectangular adhesive label reading 46671.
