A mid-20th century tiered shelving unit / music rack constructed from solid oak and mahogany-stained plywood. The unit features an open-fronted design with five fixed horizontal tiers of increasing depth from top to bottom, designed for the storage and display of sheet music, records, or periodicals. The top of the unit is finished with a curved crest rail, embellished with a central turned wooden decorative boss. The side panels exhibit a subtle taper to follow the depth of the shelves, while the rear is enclosed with a hardboard back panel. The construction utilised a combination of solid timber for the structural frame and thick veneers for the internal surfaces. No maker’s marks or labels are present on the visible surfaces.
