Lot 915: An Edwardian Mahogany Marquetry Side Chair
Not sold
An Edwardian mahogany side chair featuring classical marquetry inlay. The frame is constructed with a curved crest rail supported by two turned spindles and a central rectangular splat. This splat is decorated with a hexagonal marquetry panel executed in boxwood or satinwood, depicting a classical urn or amphora within a foliate border. The upright stiles and spindles incorporate turned detailing, while the front seat rail and square-tapered legs are embellished with string inlay. The chair is supported by spade feet to the front and out-swept sabre legs to the rear. The D-shaped seat and upper back panel are upholstered in a contemporary reddish-pink woven fabric with a textured chevron pattern, finished with a braided trim. A small white adhesive label reading 915 is attached to the upper spindle, likely a saleroom inventory mark.
Large-scale furniture items; exact dimensions are not provided.
