Lot 113: A Set of 800 Grade Silver Two-Tine Pickle Forks
A set of silver-handled pickle or cold meat forks, each featuring two tines. The handles are constructed from hollow-form silver and decorated with an ornate relief pattern in the Rococo fashion, displaying scrolling foliate motifs, floral clusters, and shell flourishes at the terminals. The tines are made of a different metal, likely steel, and are joined to the handles at a flared ferrule. A struck mark on the ferrule of the handles shows a circular cartouche containing a bird-like device, alongside a rectangular cartouche with the characters MP separated by a vertical line, and a plain mark reading 800. These marks indicate a silver purity of 800 parts per 1000, a common Continental European standard.
Gross Weight: 67.187g for the set.
