A fine hand-knotted Oriental area rug, featuring a high-density weave characteristic of Persian workshop production. The rug is composed of a silk pile on a silk foundation, resulting in a thin, flexible handle and a lustrous sheen across the surface. The design is centred around a lobed navy blue medallion filled with intricate floral motifs, set against an ivory field decorated with a repeating boteh or paisley pattern in soft pink and light blue tones. The composition is enclosed by a primary navy blue border with scrolling vines, flanked by multiple guard borders featuring repeating geometric and floral designs. A woven cartouche is located within the minor border at one end, containing Perso-Arabic characters; the script is not clearly legible as a specific workshop name. The rug is finished with long, cream-coloured knotted fringes at both ends.
