Lot 54: A Late Victorian Champleve Enamel and Porcelain Ornamental Pot-Pourri Urn
A late Victorian ornamental pot-pourri urn in the Louis XV fashion, featuring a bulbous cobalt blue porcelain body mounted with ornate gilded metal. The central body is decorated to one side with a hand-painted floral cartouche depicting a bouquet of roses, peonies, and wildflowers in shades of pink, yellow, and purple against a white ground. This panel is enclosed within heavy gilded rococo C-scrolls and diaper-work borders. The reverse of the body is embellished with gilded floral sprays. The urn is fitted with a pierced, scalloped rim and a four-lobed spreading pedestal foot, both decorated with champlevé enamel in a palette of light blue, white, dark blue, and red floral motifs. The metal assembly is secured at the base by a single slot-headed screw. There are no visible maker’s marks, signatures, or factory backstamps on the porcelain or the metalwork.
