Lot 347: A Moroccan Hand-painted Earthenware Tagine
Not sold
A Moroccan hand-painted earthenware tagine, consisting of a shallow circular base and a tall conical lid. The vessel is finished with a white tin-glaze ground, decorated with bold black underglaze pigments. The exterior of the lid is embellished with traditional Berber-style geometric motifs arranged in horizontal registers, including bands of lozenges, chevrons, and stylised hand-like “Khamsa” derivatives. The lid is topped with a circular knob handle for ease of use during cooking or service. The interior surfaces of both the base and the lid are finished in a plain white glaze, while the unglazed terracotta rim is visible where the two sections meet. No maker’s marks or signatures are present on the ceramic body.
