A collection of Royal Worcester fine bone china tea and dinner wares in the Contessa pattern, dating from the late 20th century. The set is finished in a clean white glaze and decorated with minimalist gilt-rim borders. The service comprises a teapot with a matching lid featuring a floral-inspired finial, a lidded sugar bowl with twin scrolled handles, a cream jug, various open bowls of graduated sizes, and several teacups with matching saucers. The pieces exhibit rounded, elegant forms with curved handles. The base of an item bears a printed circular black backstamp featuring a crown above a central scrollwork device containing the number ’51’. This is surrounded by the text ‘ROYAL WORCESTER’ and ‘FINE BONE CHINA’. Beneath this appears ‘MADE IN ENGLAND’, the copyright date ‘© 1982 ROYAL WORCESTER’, and the pattern name ‘CONTESSA’.
