Lot 593: An Assortment of Costume Jewellery and Jordan Postage Stamps
Sold for: £6
An assortment of costume jewellery and philatelic items. The collection includes a large quantity of fashion jewellery such as multiple strands of pink and white faux-pearl beads, faceted glass or plastic beads in pink and black, and various gold-tone and silver-tone base metal chains. Notable retail display cards include a black card printed with the name JD WILLIAMS and a smaller black tag reading next. A small gold-tone tag is stamped with the words GOLD PLATED. Accessories include a black silicone watch strap and a brown leather-strapped watch.
The lot also features a significant philatelic component, primarily a large sheet of Jordanian postage stamps. The sheet margin bears a handwritten inscription in red ink reading JORDAN – الأردن. The stamps are inscribed THE HASHEMITE KINGDOM OF JORDAN or H.K. OF JORDAN and depict various subjects including King Hussein, an oryx, the Dome of the Rock, and the 1992 Olympic Games. Many bear circular black postmarks. Also present are loose stamps, including a used Australian stamp featuring an indigenous figure, alongside vintage black-and-white photographs and postcards.
