A pair of red leather captain’s-type swivel office chairs, designed in a traditional English library fashion. Each chair features a curved horseshoe backrest supported by vertically turned spindles. The backrests are upholstered in deep-buttoned leather in a Chesterfield style, finished with brass-headed nailhead trim along the borders. One chair exhibits a two-tone dark red and black antique-rub finish, while the other is finished in a more uniform bright red. The chairs are constructed with stained hardwood frames, likely mahogany, and are mounted on five-point pedestal bases. Each base features outswept wooden legs terminating in plastic twin-wheel casters. The chairs include a manual swivel mechanism. No maker’s marks or manufacturer labels are visible on the exterior of the frames or upholstery.
