Start price: £5

Estimated price: £5 - £8

Buyer's Premium: 20%

Sold for: £5

A mahogany sailboat rudder, hand-fashioned from solid timber with a broad, rounded blade and an integral curved tiller section. The construction features a vertical join in the hardwood, reinforced by a patinated bronze or copper strap secured with rivets. The leading edge is fitted with two substantial bronze gudgeons for mounting to a transom. The wood displays a deep, dark reddish-brown finish with significant evidence of utilitarian use and age. There are no visible maker’s marks, signatures, or serial numbers on the timber or hardware.
