A vintage galvanised steel dustbin of cylindrical form, featuring a slightly tapered body constructed with a riveted vertical seam. The bin is equipped with two heavy-duty riveted loop handles to the sides and a reinforced base rim. It is accompanied by a matching galvanised steel lid with a central riveted loop handle. The exterior of the body is struck with several impressed marks: the characters “B S” followed by a British Standard Kitemark symbol, with the numbers “7 9 2” below. Further down, the body is impressed with “2 1/2” and “CUBIC FT” denoting the capacity. The lid is similarly struck with an impressed mark reading “B S 7 9 2” adjacent to the handle. The surface exhibits a weathered grey patina typical of industrial galvanised ironware.
